An Experienced Psychotherapist
Cheryl Anderson Williams, Ph.D.
Dr. Williams is a clinical psychologist and owner of a private practice in Marietta, Georgia. She has provided outpatient psychotherapy for children with behavioral problems, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety and mood disorders. Additionally, Dr. Williams has advanced training in couples’ therapy. Dr. Williams has also worked in facilities with adolescent males in the juvenile justice system and children in foster homes.
Dr. Williams earned her M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of South Florida. She completed her internship at Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Grady Health System. Her clinical work experiences include inpatient children’s crisis unit, alternative school for pregnant teens, campus counseling centers, and community mental health centers.
During her studies in graduate school, Dr. Williams was able to merge her interest in cultural diversity and psychology. This was evident through research topics and her decision to minor in cultural anthropology. Although Atlanta is her adopted hometown, Dr. Williams was raised in New York City and attended Syracuse University for undergraduate studies. Dr. Williams earned a B.S. degree in biology and worked as a research scientist for a medical school, a hospital laboratory, and a major pharmaceutical company. The foundation of biology has served her well through her studies in the field of psychology.
